**Chinese Institute of Rochester

Saturdays at Calkins Road Middle School

The **Chinese Institute of Rochester (CIR) is a Saturday morning program affiliated with the Rochester Chinese Association (RCA). Classes start with preschool and continue through High School. (** CIR is not sponsored by FCC Rochester. It is an independent organization.)

There are currently several levels of study for students who speak English at home.

Time & Location:

The hours are from 9:30-12:00 and classes are held at the Calkins Road Middle School in Pittsford.

School Format - three 45 minute sessions each Saturday:

1. Culturally-Focused Education (for example mahjong, Chinese cooking, origami, tanagrams and other items have been presented in the past)

2. Language (spoken Mandarin, simplified characters)

3. Cultural Activity including Chinese dance, calligraphy, arts and crafts, Chinese yo-yo, Chinese chess, and table tennis.

IMPORTANT: If you have any questions, or if you are registering your child for the first time, please contact CIR Language Program coordinator Prof. Chi-Ming Tang (585-245-5480) to determine which grade your child should attend.
